    Chungsi Cave-near Syangbochen village 

    The 8th Century Ranchung Chungsi Cave of Upper Mustang is the epitome of the Buddhist cultural heritage. It is located on the way to Lomanthang, in between Summer and Syangboche villages. The plateau, where the Chungsi Cave is located is 3700 meters above sea level. Samar village is located at an altitude of 3660 meters and Syangbochen at 3800 meters.

    The Stone Walled Town of Lomanthang 

    Lomanthang is a medieval town established by King Amae Pal. The town is spread over 727 sq. km. There are various Monkhar palace, Thupchhen Monastery, Chhoden Monastery, Jhyampal monastery (Maitriya) which were built around the 15th century are key attractions within the walls of Lomanthang.

    The Sky Cave and Monastic School of Choser 

    Sijha Jhong Cave is located in the hidden landscape of Upper Mustang- 21 kilometers away from the capital of Upper Mustang-Lomanthang. This 2500-year-old five storied cave has 40 rooms inside. It is located 4000 meters above sea level. 

    The Chodzong Cave Monastery 

    Chodzong Gompa (aka Chhuzong Gompa) is a 13-14th century monument, located at a high altitude of 3,900 meters above sea level, in the isolated valley, passing through the multi-hued gorges. This troglodyte gompa includes old wall paintings and beautiful statues. 

    The Tibetan word “chöd” means “to cut off” or “to slay.” The founder of this practice is the great Tibetan yogini Machig Labdron. The practice follows a prompt and effective Tantric way to the path of realization, awakening, and enlightenment.

    Itinerary

    • Day 01

      Arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to the hotel.

      When you arrive, our representative will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. If there are some essentials you still need to buy, this is the right time, but it depends on the time you arrive. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu. 

    • Day 02

      Drive Kathmandu to Pokhara.

      Good morning Kathmandu. Having breakfast at the hotel, we will depart towards Pokhara through the Prithvi Highway. Although it's just 200 km, it may take the whole day, at least 8 hours can be taken. It includes a couple of stops on the way as well for lunch, snacks, and a toilet. Your hotel will be nearby the Lakeside, so you can walk around and enjoy the vibes. Overnight at the hotel in Pokhara. 

    • Day 03

      Drive Pokhara to Marpha (2600 meters).

      Well, we kick off the tour from Pokhara around 8:30 am, after having breakfast. Initially, the Highway is so wide and amazing. Then the road to the countryside begins. On the way, visit the Gandaki Golden Bridge which is a suspended footbridge with a span of 567m. The height of the bridge is 122 m from the river level. Along the route, you will pass through Beni, and Tatopani and enjoy the view of a massive waterfall, named Rupse Waterfall (310 meters). The tour continues passing through the deepest gorge of the world- Kali Gandaki Gorge and the jaw-dropping cliffs. After the checkpoint at Ghasa,  welcome to the lower part of Mustang. The landscape is so beautiful and the drive will be through the scenic highway, passing some tiny settlements. Welcome to Marpha, which is a beautiful Himalayan settlement at 2600 meters altitude above sea level. Overnight at the hotel in Marpha. 

    • Day 04

      Drive Marpha-Jomsom-Dhumba Lake-Muktinath and Kagbeni (2800 meters).

      Good morning Marpha. It's amazing to walk through the narrow alleys in Marpha and climb up to the monastery. The entire view of Marpha can be seen from the viewpoint above. From Marpha, drive to Jomsom, which takes about 20 minutes. Jomsom is the district center of Mustang, where all types of facilities are there, including a tiny airstrip. Crossing Jomsom, drive towards a beautiful blue-green lake, named Dhumba Lake. It's amazing to walk around and feel the fresh air from Mt. Nilgiri Peak. Driving for about an hour, you will reach the world-renowned spiritual center- Muktinath Temple, where Hindu devotees take a holy bath under 108 waterspouts.  The temple is located at an altitude of 3800 meters. Driving downhills, you'll reach Kagbeni, which is a gateway to Upper Mustang. Overnight at the hotel in Kagbeni. 

    • Day 05

      Drive Kagbeni to Ghami via Chungsi Cave.

      Good morning Kagbeni. Having breakfast at the hotel, we will drive further towards the controlled region of Mustang. You need to check-in at the police stop point and the real journey begins. As soon as you move ahead, the first impression of the Upper Mustang can be seen on the cliff. This looks amazing. Passing Chaile village, the charm of the cliff makes you spellbound. In about 2 hours, you will reach  Syangbochen. It's a steep downhill drive to the Chungsi Cave, and you need to walk about 20 minutes to reach the cave, where Guru Rinpoche meditated during his mission of chasing a lady demon, who was obstructing to building the Samye monastery in Tibet. Please note that the route is good, but the cliffs are jaw-dropping. After the Chungsi Cave, drive back to Syangbochen and continue to drive to Ghami. Overnight at the hotel in Ghami. 

    • Day 06

      Drive Ghami to Dhakmar-Lo Gekar Monastery to Lomanthang.

      Good morning, a relatively impressive and warm place for an overnight stay. After having breakfast at the hotel, cross the Ghami Khola and take a left-hand route that will lead you to the red-red hill of Dhakmar. It is believed that the red part is the blood of the lady demon, who was slain by the precious master, Second Buddha- Guru Rinpoche. Then drive to the 8th-century Lo Gekar Monastery (aka Ghar Gompa), which is the oldest monastery in the world, completed even before the Samye Monastery of Tibet. Experiencing the spiritual vibes, drive further to Lomanthang. Welcome to the stone-walled town of Lomanthang. Overnight at the hotel in Lomanthang. 

    • Day 07

      Explore around Choser Jhong Cave and Lomanthang.

      Good morning Lomanthang, a medieval town established by the King Amae Pal. The town is spread over 727 sq. km. There are various Monkhar palace, Thupchhen Monastery, Chhoden Monastery, Jhyampal monastery (Maitriya) which were built around the 15th century are key attractions within the walls of Lomanthang. Another attraction for today is Choser, where you will see the Sky Cave and Monastic School. Exploring the primary highlights, return  to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Lomanthang. 

    • Day 08

      Chodzong Cave Day trip by horse.

      Welcome to the horse ride trip in Lomanthang. The Chodzong Cave is today's destination. We will set out after having breakfast at the hotel and with a packed lunch. 

      • The troglodyte gompa is very intimate
      • The main building contains old wall paintings
      • Very beautiful statues in painted wood 

      Retrace to Lomanthang in the evening and take a rest. Overnight at the hotel in Lomanthang. 

    • Day 09

      Drive Lomanthang to Tsarang and explore Luri Gompa.

      Having breakfast at Lomanthang, we proceed downhill to Tsarang. It's a picturesque town with a century-old monastery. In fact, there is also another new monastery, but the chhortens and local settlement let you feel a different vibe at Tsarang. Then we will take a side trip to Yara, Ghara, and finally to Luri Gompa Monastery. Luri Gompa is a primary destination as it holds the history of Tibetan Buddhism. The caves are adorned with murals, depicting the life of Buddha, and his teachings. The Luri Gompa Monastery is associated with the Nyingma Kargyupa Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Overnight at the hotel in Tsarang. 

    • Day 10

      Drive Tsarang to Chhusang.

      Good morning, the beautiful Himalayan town of Tsarang. After having breakfast at the hotel, embark on a downhill drive via Ghami, Ghiling, Syangbochen, Chele, and crossing the Kali Gandaki River to Chhusang. You can stay at Chele as well, which is like a viewpoint. Overnight at the hotel at Chhusang. 

    • Day 11

      Drive Chhusang to Tatopani.

      It's time to say bye to the controlled area of Upper Mustang. Having breakfast at Chhusang, drive downhill continuously via Kagbeni, Jomsom, Marpha, and Lete and pass the Kavre Cliff to Tatopani. It's time to warm up yourself in the natural hot spring. It takes your tiredness away from the body. Overnight at the hotel in Tatopani. 

    • Day 12

      Drive Tatopani to Pokhara.

      Having breakfast at Tatopani, we will drive to Pokhara. It's about 4 hours drive. It's time to enjoy walking around the Lakeside street and enjoying the food. Or, better for massage. Overnight at the hotel in Pokhara. 

    • Day 13

      Pokhara sightseeing.

      This is in fact a relaxing day, without a stressful itinerary. You will visit some of the attractions around like David Falls, Gupteshor Cave, Peace Stupa, and so on. Then boating will be the best idea in the afternoon. The remaining time is for you Overnight at the hotel in Pokhara. 

    • Day 14

      Drive Pokhara to Chitwan.

      Driving from Pokhara to Chitwan is about 6 hours. After check-in at the hotel, you will be given a short briefing about the upcoming programs. The activities' day can be different. But you will be doing a village tour and joining in a cultural program (Tharu stick dance) in the evening. Overnight at the resort in Chitwan.  

    • Day 15

      Chitwan Jungle Safari Activities.

      Welcome to Chitwan Jungle Safari activities.

      Bird Watching 

      Visiting Elephant Breeding Center (if you wish) 

      Overnight at the Resort in Chitwan. 

    • Day 16

      Drive back to Kathmandu.

      From Chitwan, it takes a minimum of 6 hours to drive to Kathmandu through the Riverside road. Similarly, a couple of points for the break and we transfer you to the hotel once arriving in Kathmandu. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu. 

    • Day 17

      Half day Kathmandu sightseeing and shopping.

      A half-day sightseeing covers Pashupatinath temple and Boudhanath Stupa. They are UNESCO-listed World Heritage Sites. Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations for Hindu devotees, where as Boudhanath is for the Buddhist devotees. Both are amazing and wonderful destinations to see around. Returning back to the hotel, you can spend your time buying souvenirs to your family and loved ones. Overnight at the Hotel in Kathmandu. 

    • Day 18

      Departure.

      Namaste. At your scheduled time, our representative will drop you are the airport. At this point, the tour concludes and we expect for your arrival for another trip soon.
