Tsangkhala-Kavilas- Changkha Layi Lathok Kapileshor is a sacred Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) Vajrayana pilgrimage destination in Nuwakot District Panchakanya Rural Municipality-02, Kavilas Hill. It is located 42km away from Kathmandu on the north.
Overview of Tsangkhala Layi Lathok
After getting out of the vehicle, you need to walk about 30-45 minutes to reach there. After Guru Rinpoche suppressed the black Yakshya at Temal Yarinak, he made his journey to Tibet through various places. Nuwakot Kavilas hill Tsangkhala is one of them. Based on the reference found in Barche Lamsel, Guru Rinpoche meditated, manifested as Kyepar Phakpé Rikdzin on Kavilas, Nuwakot.
There is a proper hiking route from the base to the top. You will see a Nachan Danda while hiking to the top, which means the dancing hill. When Guru Rinpoche subdued Dra Lha’s Gyeyen, all the Dakinis came here and danced to celebrate the victory.
After Changkhala, the next destinbation that can be covered on the same day (it usually comes as a part of pilgrimage trip) is Devighat (Chawarong or Chavichsyo). It is located at a distance of 31 km from Tsangkhala. Devighat of Nuwakot is locates at the confluence of Tadi Khola and Trishuli River. Guru Rinpoche bound the yenyens of 21 Gods, where there is extreme heat. Chavichsyo means extremely hot (because the water comes from a colder place to a warmer place).
