It is located about 20km away from Maratika Cave Halesi, the first cave, where Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) and Princess Mandarava meditated and received immortality.

    Mandarava Cave is located about 260 km away from Kathmandu, in the eastern part of Nepal. The area is in the mid-hill region, surrounded by hills and woods.

    How to reach Mandarava Cave? 

    You should drive through the B P highway, cross the Sunkoshi River twice and take a mid-hill highway to Maratika Halesi Cave. Mandarava Cave is about 30 minutes drive further from Maratika Halesi Cave.

She was a renowned female yogini, considered one of the two principal consorts of Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche), the revered Indian master who helped establish Buddhism in Tibet in the 8th century.

    She was a princess in the kingdom of Zahor, who was a perfect combination of beauty, wisdom, and devotion. After she was accepted as a consort by Guru Rinpoche and traveled to different places doing meditation, she was marked as a prominent figure in Tibetan Buddhism as a female spiritual power.
